Dr. St. John began providing outpatient ketamine infusion services in early 2017 with the aim of further improving the lives of Houston patients who suffer from treatment-resistant depression and who have found no relief of their symptoms with FDA-approved treatments like medications, psychotherapy, TMS, or even ECT.
Unlike some infusion centers, the St John Mental Health Clinic is directed by Dr. St John, a psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of patients who have not found relief with traditional medication. She is able to perform a comprehensive evaluation at the time of a prospective patient consultation, prescribe IV ketamine therapy if it is recommended, but also make alternative recommendations if she believes a patient would be a better candidate for another treatment.
At our clinic, we believe strongly in working with the patient to develop just the right mindset and clinical setting for each infusion. To this end, our infusion nurse sits in the same room with each patient for the duration of each of their infusions and helps each patient create an ideal infusion experience.
Dr. St John is present and hands-on, developing individualized ketamine dosing plans for each patient receiving IV ketamine therapy in our clinic.
Ketamine therapy in our Houston office consists of a series of small doses of ketamine administered by a medical professional over a series of days to relieve the symptoms of severe depression, PTSD, OCD, and more. Relief for those who respond to ketamine therapy may take up to 24 hours or require a second dose.
Ketamine infusions are performed in our outpatient clinic by our infusion nurse, under the direct supervision of Dr. St John. All patients are monitored during their infusions by our highly experience infusion nurse who provides medical and emotional support continuously from the time patients enter the office to their departure.
